During this weekend, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle announced that she and her husband, Zeus, are getting a divorce after 44 years of marriage.

The couple is bucking a trend among Chicagoans, whose divorce rates fell slightly–from 9.1 percent to 8.8 percent–between 2007 and 2012.

But Chicago’s divorce rate, in turn, is bucking the nationwide trend: During the past five years, divorce rates went up from 10.5 percent to 11.1 percent.
